music appreciation is killing me!!

All along I thought music would be extremely interesting as it is something new but now it's killing me hard..adhesive though the next thing I should do is hit my head hard on the wall...looking thru websites by websites getting the info I need for a simple assignment turns out real tough..

I am assigned to look for descriptions and timbre for 16 intruments as in instruments used mostly in an orchestra..After days of searching, saxophone is still giving me headache..feeling sleepy and tired I am is still continuing on my research...it is the last instrument already and yet it not making my job any easier...GAWD!!!WTF LA?!

After studying mass media and mass comm for almost a year now,I dun deny that the Internet can actually provide us with a lot of information but I also dun deny that it has overloaded information..typing 1 word means u need to go through thousands of webpages...when I type in 'saxophone',they are actually giving me links to ppl's blogs talking about their experiences with that instrument..why the hell would I need that info?I have never even seen a real saxophone or even touch it..and we are actually studying history of music where I see a lot of italian names and learning a lot of italian terms..I guess I can be an italiano soon...hehe...

orchestra-ING

went to an orchestra on sunday for an assignment's sake..I didn't know that it could turned out that cool...all along,I would imagine myself sleeping in the theatre instead of enjoying the performance..

So on sunday,we went to KLCC to watch what I assume to be boring..as I entered the theatre and get settled down, I saw the gigantic pipe organ...it was really big and I never did know musical intruments could be that enormous..the lighting in the theatre is really cozy with the air con on,I could really sleep(yawn..)..U can see Europeans everywhere in the hall and also people of almost all ages with different races and religion..

and so the orchestra started exactly at 3 pm..punctual huh?typical of the Europeans...it started off with music coming from all the instruments on stage..there were violins, violas, cellos, trombones, oboes, cymbals, bass drums, timpani, triangle, clarinets, harps, tamborines and side drums..as usual, the conductor leads the way..it's amazing how everything blends in together, harps and violins blending in with drums..it's like wow!neway, dun look down on cymbals, they sound really loud..I enjoyed parts where different instruments played their part to actually make it sound like music..it normaly starts off with the violins, followed by the violas and cellos, chipped in by clarinets, trombones and oboes, then the drums and lastly the final touch up by triangles or cymbals..but with the existence of the suprano,I dun seem to enjoy it..dunno why..I seem to think that she ruined the beautiful rhythm and tune of the instruments..it's seems that her voice doesn't blend in with everything around her...hehe..I dun know much but yet I am complaining..

neways, attending an orchestra isn't that bad after all..it was a great experience...at least I know that I did not fall asleep...wasted that I can't record anything down or even take any pictures..if not,at least I can show u how amazing everything was especially the pipe organ..beautiful!if u guys have a chance, dun ever miss it out..as in a once in a lifetime experience...

sem 3!!

2nd week of the 3rd sem...3 assignments in hand already...looks like the next few weeks seems deadly plus it's a short sem with only 7 weeks..where all my lectures and tutorials are doubled up..but luckily lectures are not like 4 hrs simultaneously for the same subject..

this sem I am having only 2 subjects and the good news is I got my scholarship again for this sem..darn happy,at least I can save up some money..this sem's subject are as follows:

music appreciation
  • music isn't that bad after all...though it is only basic theories and basic notes but it seems really interesting...plus the lecturer is fun though a lot of my frens dun really agree..what I liked about her is that she doen't make tutorials that boring..we sang and laugh throughout the 2 whole hrs and also not forgetting humorous classmates...

mass media and society

  • whoa..this subject is sickening..I m totally lost...the lecturer seems to be talking to the walls rather than us most of the time..her notes are darn short without any explaination or examples...but that's ok coz that's how it is in coll rite?maybe that's her way to get our attention into listening to her lectures...tutorials,the tutor is good but it is not as entertaining as music plus the subject is really boring...survivng this subject can be really hard..

I was always looking forward to sem 3 but when it did came,I was kinda disappointed...finals will be here soon as in 6 more weeks..mid term is in 2 more weeks...gosh,I am like chasing trains...

life in KL...

frankly speaking,I really love my life in KL compared to my life in Klang..adapting to it at first was a bit stressful but as time passes by,it's fun..

staying away from home might not be as bad as it seems..u might miss ur family but all that will gone once u get used to it...the environment in this hse might be noisy but I can assure that our laughter can overcome everything..we are the loudest and the whackiest tenants in this house..going to mamak late in the nite and laughing all the way home 2am in the morning, going to the movies together, laughing our heads off in the cinema, teasing each other all day long, having dinner together sometimes even lunch..all these sweet memories will last forever..but we will shifting soon and we might have to stay apart...can we still saty the same?i wonder...

there goes my hols...

haven't been updating for more than a week..haha..was kinda lazy..sorry..but there isn't much to say..

for the past 3 weeks,it was my sem break with nothing much to do at home...guess I really wasted a lot of time by watching tv,eating, sleeping and going online..hehe..recently,I am back in KL and it is my 1st back to college..knowing that there won't be any tutorial classes,I am growing mushrooms on my head but I still had to stay on coz I am having lectures tomorrow and friday...and for the very 1st time in my history of college,I am actually having classes on friday but it really sucks coz my timetable is really empty..almost everyday going to college for 2 hours lecture..that's how bad it is..comparing this sem n last sem, there's a very big difference but there is nothing much to be done..I had 6 subjects last sem and only 2 for this one with only 7 weeks of schooling...imagine that u will finishing everything in 7 weeks and having ur finals after that...short sem, that's how it works..

and so here am I blogging my way thru the nite to pass time off...

I find things in the world nowadays works the other way round..y do I put it that way was because guys now are very capable of cooking...and gurls seems to working their heads off this time around...few days back,I chatted to a high school friend( a guy) and he just finished his SPM this year..was curious and so I asked him what does he plan to after getting his results and he said he might be taking hotel management or culinary..but I think he had his mind set more on culinary plus he says that he loves cooking..well,he's kinda good looking u c,so if he can cook that's an extra credit(hehehe..I might be interested)...I have guy friends in college that cook well..and the conclusion is,looking back in time where women used to belong in the kitchen and men are working like cows to earn that little money, everything has changed now...

and I have this lecturer which I can't be sure of his/her gender...she sounds like a woman but physically she looks like a man...but I think her name gives me the answer and yes she is a FEMALE...
